Ticket sales for the 79th edition of the Airborne March officially opened today at 8:00 PM. On Saturday 5 September 2026, tens of thousands of walkers from all over the world will gather in Oosterbeek for the world’s largest one-day walking event. The event, organised by the Renkum Police Sports Association, is dedicated to commemorating the soldiers who fell during the Battle of Arnhem in 1944.
Commemorating and connecting
The Airborne Walk is more than a sporting achievement; it is a meeting place where generations come together. Last year, the event attracted over 36,000 walkers from 25 different countries and 30,000 visitors. “It is the combination of sporting spirit, the presence of veterans and the art of ArtBorne that makes this event unique,” says the organisers. The 10, 15, 25 and 40-kilometre routes pass historic sites where the history of freedom is still palpable.
Focus on the future
In addition to the walk itself, the organisers are strongly committed to education. Primary and secondary schools are involved in the theme of ‘remembering, realising and experiencing’. The involvement of around 350 volunteers ensures that the event will once again have a welcoming atmosphere in 2026.
