Looking back: Wreath laying at the Airborne commemorations

During the Airborne commemorations, members of the PSVR board laid wreaths on several occasions this year:

  • 17 September – Commemoration at the Needle in Oosterbeek
A short, solemn ceremony commemorating the start of Operation Market Garden on 17 September 1944 in this region. During this gathering, Alieke Jansen recited her winning poem.
  • 19 September – Commemoration at Renkum Airborne
  • 21 September – Airborne Memorial Service at the Cemetery in Oosterbeek
Once again this year, many people were present to commemorate the fallen. Among them was Arnhem veteran Geoff Roberts, who also laid a wreath himself. Watch the commemoration at the Airborne cemetery in Oosterbeek here.
  • 21 September – Commemoration at the Air Despatch Monument in Oosterbeek

With these wreath-laying ceremonies, the PSVR, together with many others, continues to reflect on the sacrifices made in 1944 for our freedom.
