Oosterbeek, 6 January 2019 - During the New Year's reception of the Police Sports Association 'Renkum' on 5 January j.l. three members were awarded the pin of 'Member of Merit' and a member received the award 'Honorary Member'.

The annual New Year's reception for the members of the Politie Sportvereniging 'Renkum', organizer of the Airborne Wandeltocht has been very special this time.

Chairman Wilma Luckel emphasized from the beginning in her speech the importance of the volunteers over the years. Without these volunteers it would be impossible to organize this commemoration.

Former board member Peter van Drunen has received the award 'Honorary Member'. Peter has been a member of the association since 1982 and has been on the board for 23 years where he held various positions; he was, for example, a secretary and for many years he took on the organization of the medical service.

In addition, Frans Peters, Gerrit Eijmers and Cees Wichhart, employees from about the first hour, have been named 'Member of Merit' of the association. To this day they ensure that, in particular, the flower arrangement is made. In earlier years they also wrote everything themselves but nowadays they are helped by computer drawings.

With visible emotion and pride they received the award. The board thanked them once again with this recognition. Once again it became clear that the association can not do without the support of these loyal employees.
